What sets him apart is that he is an active, ultra running champion. So not only does he know exactly what he is talking about, but hearing about his 200+ mile race escapades are massively inspiring as well! His coaching is focused on technique, efficiency and is grounded in theory. Highly recommended! Joana20 October 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Simon is an excellent running coach! His initial technique assessment and running technique coaching were incredibly helpful in teaching me how to run with proper form. He also created a personalised training plan that combined mobility, strength, and technique exercises to enhance my running. Thanks to Simon, I've developed a real passion for running and can now join my husband on longer runs. While I still have room to improve, Simon has been instrumental in getting me started on the right path. I highly recommend coaching with Simon if you're looking to take your running to the next level! Olivia Bagshawe16 October 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently set myself a goal of getting into ultra running and I was recommended Si through a friend who assured me Si was the best person to help me reach my goal. I started working with Si at the end of July and within 3 months, I ran my first 50km race without ever having run properly before! We met multiple times to improve my running form and through following his training plan, I have been running injury free and able to achieve my goals which never would've been possible without him. He is very kind, patient, knowledgeable and has so much passion for running. As a women, I have also really appreciated him being respectful and conscious of my needs which may impact my training. I am excited to continue working with Si and to see what his coaching will allow me to achieve! Mike Robinson4 October 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I wanted a running coach to help me with my technique and help me with my first marathon. My form has improved dramatically and I'm the fittest I've ever been. My original goal was sub 4hrs and I exceeded my wildest expectations with a 3:37!!! Simon's expertise and passion is infectious. He calmed me down when needed and encouraged me all the way. I'm someone who always has to understand the why and Simon always took the time to explain things which really helped. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone. He was always friendly and professional. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him or use his services again. Joshua Rowley12 May 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I found Simon by searching "running coach Oxford" on Google in early 2023, a few months before taking on the 3 Peaks Yacht Race (a mountain trail running, cycling, and sailing race) in June that year. We have been working with each other ever since (so just over a year). I had not given myself time to interview many running coaches in 2023, but Simon stood out as enthusiastic and knowledgeable so I took the punt. Since Simon and I started working together, my running has gone from strength to strength as I completed the 3 Peaks Yacht Race (90k over 4 days), my first Ultra (a 50k out of Bakewell), the OMM (short score), and most recently MIUT 85 (a savage 85k mountain ultra with 5,000m of elevation on the island of Madeira). Simon has continued to develop as a coach since I have known him and as our relationship has developed he has been able to tailor his methods to my personality (inquisitive, data driven, and detail oriented). That has meant sharing the detail of my long-range training plan, and talking me through the "why", and helping me feel mentally as well as physically prepared and engaged. I won’t rehearse the details of my long range plan of training for MIUT 85, but it incorporated all the usual stuff that you would expect: a long build of my aerobic base, intervals, hill repeats (lots of those required in Oxford), and strength work (don’t skip it!). I strongly believe that having a coach enabled me to achieve this goal. Simon always helped me balance running with the rest of my life, he tweaked my plan based on feedback from my physio, and always listened to my feedback. Immediately before the race, Simon took the time to talk me through race strategy and give me race-day tips. In fact, Simon was so inspired by MIUT that he joined us in Madeira for the MIUT 115 (coming 144th of 959). Thanks Simon! I went from running nothing and hating running to being able to finish an ultra race of +50km in only a couple of months. To doing a multi-stage ICE Ultra in the Swedish Lapland! see picture, I m at the back! This would not have happened without Simon, it is not only about the training but also his coaching style, positive attitude and how he adapts around your schedule! He has coached, inspired and motivated me over the last 12 months to become a better runner. My form is significantly improved, I am following the right running plans and as a result am hitting my goals and running with much more joy. I couldn’t recommend Simon highly enough, and go along all of that he is one of life’s great souls. Joseph Watson13 April 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Working with Simon on my running technique and training programme is the single best decision I've made in progressing towards my goal of participating in multi-stage ultras. His breadth and depth on all things running is an invaluable resource. I would unreservedly recommend him to novice and veteran runners alike. He’s very enthusiastic in running and I enjoy so much in attending his running lessons. The running techniques he taught me helped me to run in a more relaxed way. Now I understand what’s meant by running slow will make you faster. I also like the running schedule he set for me for my marathon which I can finish it finally. I would recommend Focused Running to those who would like to improve running skills or to run more efficient.
